In-app notifications
The bell in the top bar. It collects the things that happened while you were not looking:
- A post you were asked to review
- A review of yours approved or sent back
- A comment on a post you are involved with
- A mention of you in a comment
- A publish that failed
- A channel whose authorisation expired
An expired channel also gets a banner across every page, naming the channel. Admins who can manage channels get a Reconnect link in it.
Open the bell for the recent list, or the full notifications page for everything. Marking one read follows you across devices — it is a property of the notification, not of the browser.
Mentions
You have a separate mentions view for the case you most need to not miss: somebody typed your name in a comment on a post. It is the same events as the bell, filtered to the ones addressed at you.
DemandBird sends email in three categories.
Posts and things you need to act on. A post that published, a publish failure, a review request, an approval, an expired channel. Publish and failure emails follow your settings below; review and approval emails have no separate switch.
The post-ideas digest. Off, daily, or weekly, at an hour you pick. Configured separately.
Account and billing mail. Receipts, payment failures, subscription changes, password resets. These are always sent. A failed payment that goes unmentioned becomes a lapsed account, so there is no switch for it.
Choosing your post emails
Settings → Notifications has two settings. You get one email per post, however many platforms it went to.
When a post publishes: As it happens, Daily, Weekly, or Off. Daily and Weekly roll the summary into your email digest, and the day and hour you pick here set the digest's schedule too.
When a post fails: As it happens, or Off. Off shows a warning, because nothing else will tell you a post didn't go out.
Turning email off does not turn off in-app notifications. The bell still fills; you just have to look at it.
What you cannot turn off
Account and billing mail, as above. If DemandBird cannot charge your card or a channel has stopped working, you need to know.
Per-workspace or per-account?
Notification preferences are yours, and follow you across every account and workspace you belong to. There is no way to be noisy in one client's workspace and quiet in another's.
What you receive is naturally scoped: you only get notified about work you can see. A seat scoped to one client never hears about another's posts.
SMS and WhatsApp
If you have SMS or WhatsApp linked, that channel is for you texting DemandBird, not the other way round. DemandBird replies to what you send; it does not push notifications to your phone unprompted.
Texting stop unlinks the number entirely.
